The Doorman: A Movie Worth Watching?
Have you ever watched a movie that you immediately thought was a waste of time? Well, I have and “The Doorman” is definitely one of them. Don’t get me wrong, I tried to give it a chance, but it fell short in so many ways.
Storyline
The storyline follows Ali Gorski (played by Ruby Rose), a former marine who takes up a job as a doorman in an apartment building in New York City. Her job is to protect the wealthy family who lives there from intruders seeking to steal their priceless artwork. However, Ali soon realizes that her nemesis from her past has also targeted the same family and will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
The Casts
The movie features well-known actors such as Jean Reno and Rupert Evans. However, even their talented performances couldn’t save the poorly written plot.
Opinion
In my opinion, the film lacked depth and failed to connect with its audience. The characters were incredibly unrelatable and poorly developed.
Scenes
The fight scenes were basic and did not add any flavor to the film with continuity errors being frequent throughout the movie.
Special Effects
Although the special effects were impressive, they did not make up for the lack of substance in the film.
Dialogue
The dialogue was cringe-worthy and lacked authenticity. It’s almost as if someone randomly placed lip-synced sounds on a video and released it as a movie.
Cinematography
The cinematography was subpar. The scenes were poorly lit, making them hard to watch. The camera angles were also unimaginative.
Production
I found out that Lorenzo di Bonaventura was among the producers of “The Doorman.” I was shocked since Bonaventura was also involved with producing successful movies such as “Transformers” and “Red.” One would have expected him to do better than this flop of a movie.
Editing
The editing team seemed to have been in a hurry to finish their job since editing errors are glaringly evident throughout the movie.
Criticism
The critics seem to agree with me. On Rotten Tomatoes, “The Doorman” received an average score of 14% based on 22 reviews.
Final Evaluation
In conclusion, “The Doorman” is not worth your time or money. A poorly written plot combined with bad acting, camera work, and editing make this movie not worth watching. You’re better off spending your time on something else.
