Disaster Movie: Fails to Live Up to its Name
As a lover of comedy movies, I was excited to watch the “Disaster Movie”. However, it turned out to be a massive disappointment. The movie, directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, was released in 2008 and has since been regarded as one of the worst comedy movies of all time.
The Storyline
The plot revolves around a group of friends who have to survive various natural disasters. It parodies some blockbuster movies like “Cloverfield”, “High School Musical”, and “Hancock”. However, the jokes are so cheap that they hardly make anyone laugh. The scriptwriters didn’t put any effort into developing the storyline except for the mere exaggeration of events that lead nowhere.
The Casts
Kim Kardashian, Carmen Electra, Matt Lanter, Vanessa Minnillo are among the casts; however, their acting abilities were hardly showcased in this movie. They had nothing to work with except for ridiculous dialogue that can make even the best actor look terrible.
The Acting and Characters
The acting was terrible, and the characters were uninspired. The movie tried to make fun of other movies’ characters, but it ended up portraying them badly.
The Popularity and Score
The movie was a box office bomb, grossing only $34.8 million against a budget of $20 million. It also received negative reviews from critics, with Rotten Tomatoes giving it a score of 1%. It’s safe to say that the film’s popularity is not because of its quality.
The Special Effects
The special effects were terrible. They looked like they’ve been done by an amateur using free software on his computer. While some may argue that this was intentional as part of the comedy in the movie, it only adds up to the overall poor quality delivered by the filmmakers.
The Soundtracks
Even though there were some decent songs played throughout the movie, they didn’t fit well with disaster scenes and only add confusion rather than enhance any comedic effect.
The Dialogue
The dialogue was mostly based on pop culture references that were already outdated at the time of the movie’s release. It felt forced and could not make you laugh.
The Opinion
Overall, “Disaster Movie” is a movie that fails to live up to its name. It’s neither funny nor entertaining. The plot is weak and relies heavily on cheap jokes and cringe-worthy moments. The acting is sub-par, and the special effects are terrible. If you’re looking for a good comedy movie, there are plenty of other options that can deliver what “Disaster Movie” failed to do.
