Hummingbird: A Thrilling Movie Worth Watching
When I first heard of the movie “Hummingbird,” I was skeptical. The name didn’t give me any idea about what the movie would be about. But as soon as I started watching it, I was drawn in by the compelling storyline and superb acting. This article will take you through my thoughts and emotions while watching this amazing movie.
The Plot of Hummingbird
Hummingbird is a story about redemption and second chances. Jason Statham stars as Joey Jones, an ex-Royal Marine, homeless and on the run from a military court martial. When he finds an opportunity to assume a new identity, he begins to change his life for the better.
The movie is set in London and features flashes of flashbacks from Joey’s past life in Afghanistan. Joey is now living on the streets, sleeping in alleyways and panhandling for money just to survive.
One day, he is given a chance to change his life when he comes across a fancy apartment that’s empty while its owner is away on vacation. He decides to assume the owner’s identity and make use of all their resources.
The Acting in Hummingbird
The acting in Hummingbird is one of its best features. Jason Statham gives an incredible performance as the troubled Joey Jones. His portrayal of a man who has hit rock bottom and is looking for a way out is convincing and touching.
Agata Buzek, who plays Cristina, Joey’s love interest, gives an equally remarkable performance. She is convincing as a nun who is questioning her faith and is also trying to find her place in the world.
The Scenes in Hummingbird
The scenes in Hummingbird are beautifully shot, showing off the gritty streets of London and the posh apartments that Joey breaks into. The flashbacks to Afghanistan add depth to the story and give insight into Joey’s past life.
One scene that stands out to me is when Joey first arrives at the posh apartment he has taken over. He takes a long shower, enjoying all of the amenities he has access to now. As he bathes himself, we see his tattoo on his chest, which hints at the darkness that lies within him.
The Soundtrack in Hummingbird
The soundtrack of Hummingbird adds to its thrilling nature. The music throughout the movie keeps you on edge and makes you feel like something big is about to happen.
The score was composed by Dario Marianelli, who has previously worked on movies such as Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. His work on Hummingbird is excellent, and the soundtrack heightens the tense moments and adds more depth to the emotional scenes.
The Evaluation of Hummingbird
Overall, I think that Hummingbird is a great movie. The plot is well thought-out, and the acting is superb. The cinematography and soundtrack are also top-notch and add to the overall feel of the movie.
However, there are some things that could be improved upon. The pacing of the movie is a bit slow at times, and some of the characters aren’t fleshed out as much as they could be. But these issues don’t detract from the overall enjoyment of watching Hummingbird.
The Criticism of Hummingbird
There has been some criticism of Hummingbird since its release. Some people have criticized its lack of action scenes, which is something that Jason Statham movies are known for. However, I think that this criticism is unfounded.
While it’s true that there aren’t as many action scenes in Hummingbird as in other Statham movies, this doesn’t detract from its quality. The focus on character development and emotional depth makes up for any lack of action sequences.
The Final Verdict on Hummingbird
All in all, I highly recommend watching Hummingbird. Its gripping story, superb acting, and beautiful cinematography make it a must-see movie. If you’re a fan of Jason Statham or just looking for a thrilling movie to watch, Hummingbird is definitely worth your time.
